I'm going to clarify my headline first off. My Cell Biology instructor started class today with a video. I sat and watched intently. It was so beautiful. I was awestruck. A link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kxSLw1LMvgk. It was better when I watched it in class.
This helped me to see the intrinsic value in information. The very thing I have been trying to see for the past few years. There it was in one beautiful video.
This reminded me of love. Love has definite intrinsic value and you can never fully appreciate until you've done without it after experiencing it. It's a cold world without things we can attach intrinsic value to - love, art, knowledge, etc.
I long to love somebody, to hold her in my arms and say, this is why I live, this is why I wake up in the morning to leave the comfort of my bed. Knowledge and art can only do so much, but it is love that I need to feel whole and human. A machine can learn to see art and know information, but only a sentient being can feel love and appreciate all that exists. Send me a message!
